Release date - the Speculation continues

I have read 2 articles that talk about Sivaji’s release. None of them are able to give solid release dates. Why is it so difficult to give a date of release?

Marketing - Can anyone beat Sony Pictures?

A cartoon character gives run for money all over the world. Not even Sivaji can withstand such an onslaught. The movie SpiderMan - 3 was released on May 4th. I have to say I was impressed with the theatrical trailer. The sound effects in the movie is mind blowing - to put it mildly.

Now to the topic of marketing.

In US

Spiderman -1 and Spiderman -2 are all over the movie channels in US. Walmart.com even sells these parts for $7.50 (download) each - quite unprecidented. Comcast has tied in with Spiderman. Spiderman appeared on the NBC’s todays show.

In Chennai - India

Truckload of celebrities and Sony’s India division heads come in for the premier at Satyam cinema complex. This is like Oscar night show - I guess! Trisha flew from hyderabad to attend the show (read the sify link below).

I hate to say that a hollywood movie is a competitor for Sivaji (pun intended). Considering the fact that many tamil movie producers backing out from releasing their movies during the month of May put me down a little. Now Spiderman should do the trick!

There are a few people in life you would desperately want them do better in life and it is good to see them win.

The geeky girl in Sun TV trying to impress the judges did strike a chord with me and her Theivam Thandha Poove in the movie world left a lasting impression. However her live performance of the same song during the Tsunami time left me thinking otherwise (she was gasping for breathe). With her earnest practice in vocal music she has graduated to the top league through Sahana in Sivaji.

Chinmayi is the girl I’m talking about. Now she is a singer, restaurant reviewer and a RJ!

Postponed Again?

Is it true that the movie is getting postponed again? I guess Sivaji will be facing a tough contender - Dasavathaarum.

Some scoops I read:

• In Sahana Song Mr. Shankar’s team has built a set completely of glass and in another song a Palace with intricate details. The question is does it really matter? The much hyped song ‘Ale Ale’ song from Boys about the ‘purple garden’ in Australia and the other garden in ‘Iyengaru veettu…’ from Anniyan didn’t fit the song.
• Here is the BUS in Sivaji , it seems to be Mudhalvan style justice in the movie.

In the name of high budget movie, the audience seems to be the looser with higher ticket prices!
